About UsFull citizen inclusion in the world that is now evolving as a result of new technologies and cultural forces will not happen by default, but only by design. eLab exists not to reinvent the wheel, but to connect the spokes. The byDesign eLab innovates and mobilizes knowledge media systems to support citizen engagement in e-governance, community advancement and cultural content creation. Partners include government, business and civil society organizations. Specialties include live and archive netcasting, design and production of e-consultations from start to finish including the 2003 award winning bilingual and panCanadian ( Foreign Policy Dialogue). eLab collaborates on needs assessment, technical and training requirements, and can build, host and train, as required. eLab designs custom scalable local and global public spaces and platforms to realize purposeful online and offline events (e.g. ecommons). eLab builds knowledge media systems or convenes talented technical and research experts to provide complete reports, evaluation and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data. With the McLuhan global research network, eLab associates are experiencesd in media commentary, consulting, and public presentation. ( McLuhan global research network). Incubated at the McLuhan Program in Culture & Technology at the University of Toronto in 1997, eLab became an independent research, development and production think tank, specializing in emergent media and policy, in 1999.
